Ayami earned her Ph.D. from Kyoto University in Japan, where her research focused on searches for symmetry violation using neutrinos. She then moved to the United States for postdoctoral research and currently studies symmetry violation using molecules. In her free time, Ayami enjoys drawing while watching anime or TV dramas.
