Hiro is from Osaka, Japan. He did his undergraduate at University of Toronto, where he worked for over two years in the Vutha group, trying to develop a solid-state based atomic clock. He joined the Doyle group in 2018. He works on laser cooling YbOH, and occasionally talks about Japan with Prof. Doyle (sometimes in Japanese). Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing ultimate frisbee. His frisbee throwing skills have been useful when passing long cables across the lab hallway.
