Zack came to the Doyle group all the way from the ACME electron EDM experiment (then in LISE G14 at Harvard), where he did his Ph.D. with Dave DeMille at Yale. He joined the group as a postdoc laser cooling YbOH, and now works on the MOT of SrOH (in LISE G14). His favorite element is Dy, but he could frankly do without D or Y. As someone born in the last century, he is considered “distinguished” by many graduate students.
